We’re sorry, but the session on the 13th October is now postponed. We’ll have a new date for you soon and will update this event as soon as we have it. Thank you for your patience.
Join Dr. Jeannine Goh on the 6th and 13th October for these insightful and introspective sessions designed to help you find peace in silence. Through an exploration of the lost art of contemplation, psychologist and co-director of the Sanctuary, Jeannine, will guide you through your own, inner terrain.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from a master meditator, in a sacred space, completely without cost.
What can I expect from the sessions?
This fascinating, restorative and exploratory journey will begin with half an hour of gently exploring the art of contemplation. Then you’ll be free to play with these ideas during the hour of silence, before being invited back to discuss our experiences. You are welcome to drop into any of the sessions or come to them all.
11.30 – 12.00
Jeannine will explain more about the art of contemplation and will teach some beautiful, simple techniques and practices.
12.00-13.00
We’ll explore these practices or just enjoy the silence. You do not have to stay the full hour but all participants are welcomed back at 13.00 to share and explore their experience in the group.
13.00 – 13.30
A discussion sharing of our inner experiences during the hour of silence.
How will I benefit from finding peace in silence?
There is plenty of evidence to show that much inner turmoil is experienced as a result of our own thoughts about outer events, as opposed to the actual events themselves. By learning to tune into silence, we can begin a process of observing those thoughts, rather than being caught in a constant state of stress and anxiety. These sessions are designed to help that process unfold, bringing a new sense of calm, peace and inner strength.
In Jeannine’s own words:
“Most of us think that contemplation is thinking about something i.e. contemplating whether to go on holiday or not. In this process there are lots of thoughts involved. However, when the thoughts settle and we are absorbed in the moment we have a profound sense of connection. Most of us run around barely noticing one another, what is really said, or the sense or presence of living creatures around us. Contemplation, on the other hand, allows us to effortlessly learn to deepen our connection and presence in the world and this in turn enriches and nourishes our relationship to each other, ourselves and the world. It brings a deep beauty into our lives”. – Dr. Jeannine Goh
Do I need any special equipment or clothing?
No, special clothing or equipment is not needed. Just a desire to better understand the workings of your own mind.
How much does it cost to take part?
It’s completely free to attend. All are welcome.
We’re sorry, but the session on the 13th October is now postponed. We’ll have a new date for you soon and will update this event as soon as we have it. Thank you for your patience.
