Pride of Gorton Awards

Event Details

The Monastery is proud to host the 11th edition of this year’s sparkling Pride of Gorton Awards, 2024.

This event really is like The Oscars for Gorton! The red carpet is rolled out here at the Monastery for a drinks reception, followed by a two-course meal and entertainment. Then we get down to the serious business of announcing the winners who are all presented with a beautiful trophy and some flowers.

Our MC for the evening is Mr Ian Cheeseman, who is best known for his work as a sports pundit, particularly working with Manchester City Football Club.

The Awards take place at 6-9pm on Sunday 20th October, 2024 and a very limited amount of tickets are available.

Booking info

Tickets cost £45 and include entry, entertainment, a 2-course meal with wine and a warm community glow, guaranteed!

Please email Rosemary Cusack on [email protected] to book.

About Pride of Gorton Awards & Nominations

Gorton Events Committee fundraises throughout the year in order to put on the Awards each October. Nominations launched at Gorton Carnival on 14th July, 2024 and remained open until 8th September, 2024. GMP collected all the nominations and appointed an independent judging panel who picked the shortlist and winners.

Seven Categories

There are seven categories which were open for public nomination:
1. Community Pride
2. Community Group
3. Community Team
4. Young Achievement
5. Clean and Green
6. Making a Difference
7. People’s Champion

Plus three additional categories

8. Outstanding Neighbourhood Officer (selected by GMP)
9. PubWatch Community Contribution (selected by the PubWatch Committee)
10. Sir Gerald Kaufman Lifetime Achievement Award (selected by our local Councillors)

Shortlists

GMP make a shortlist of three from each category with one of those three being announced as the final winner on the evening of the Awards. All 21 nominees and their plus ones are invited to the Awards along with the person that nominated them.

All of the lucky shortlisted nominees have now been contacted and we wish everyone the very best of luck!
