Join us for our bi-annual Manchester book fair, where the region’s book lovers come together under the magnificent roof of the Monastery’s Great Nave.

If you love books, beautiful architecture, quiet spaces, tables & chairs so you can sit & browse at your leisure AND hang out with other people who also love books, you’ll be in exactly the right place

The dates for your diary are Sunday, May 10th and Sunday, October 11th, 2026, 10am-4pm, to inhale the intoxicating scent of ink on paper, and meet our book-loving tribe.

First held in 2019, this will be the event’s seventh year at Gorton Monastery. With around twenty dealers exhibiting for sale a wide range of secondhand, antiquarian and collectable books and ephemera there is sure to be much of interest to new and regular visitors.

There is a café serving light refreshments and a large car park onsite.

Come along. Take your time, have a browse and take advantage of the cafe and (weather permitting) the garden, whilst supporting 40+ local and independent book sellers.

It’s just £1 on the door for adults and free for under-16s.

Family friendly, disabled access throughout the ground floor, free parking and a very warm welcome guaranteed.

No need to book, just turn up on the day.
