Summer Solstice Service @ the Monastery, Manchester

For people of all beliefs, 1-2.30pm

Please join us as we celebrate the summer solstice with music, stories, meditation and celebration. This year, 2023, the summer solstice occurs on Wednesday, June 21st, marking the astronomical first day of summer, here in the Northern Hemisphere.

At this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, many traditions celebrate the summer solstice in a myriad of ways. We will create our own celebration for 2023, whilst honouring the traditions. There will be live music and mantras along with a ceremonial releasing of old energies, dream-sharing, prayer and meditation. Expect a service that is deeply moving and celebratory in equal measures.

Solstice Prayer

Source of All being and becoming, we bow to you.
Divine flow of Life that births stars, creating time, space and vast galaxies,
We thank you for our Milky Way Galaxy and for our own great star the sun.
We circle Her and seasons come and go, we turn each day into and out of Her radiant light.
She brings us warmth, energy, light. She brings us life itself.
On this the day when our sun appears to be at Her full hight,
On this day when the earth seems briefly to stand still,
We offer our gratitude.
May our hearts reflect the light of the sun, in love, always in Love.
May our hearts refelct the warmth of the sun, in kindness always in kindness.
May our hearts reflect the power of the sun, in peace always in peace.
and so it is.
